Fused glass drop earrings in satin finish aquamarine glass with silver plated bails and sterling silver ear wires. Handmade by me in my home studio on the Wirral peninsula, NW England and presented on my signature card. I've always collected sea glass, and while shiny glossy glass is beautiful there is something special about the soft satin finish of sea glass. Imagine how pleased I was when I discovered that sandblasting and re-firing my fused glass gave it a similar look - but in any colour I wanted! I make the glass rounds for these earrings by fusing a layer of transparent coloured glass over a different coloured layer of opaque glass in my kiln; then I sandblast them and fire in the kiln again to get the satin seaglass like finish. It is the layer of transparent glass and this satin finish that give these earrings such a beautiful subtle glow quite different from the more usual 'shiny' appearance of glass.
