Puffin with blue sea ceramic and sterling silver drop earrings

These little square drops feature a pair of puffins with a deep blue sea and soft blue sky for a backdrop. As with all my jewellery they are made and decorated entirely by hand. After forming the drops from fine white clay, I imprint the designs. When dry, I sand the sides and round off the edges to ensure they are super smooth to the touch. They then have their first firing. Next I paint them using under-glazes and apply a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware. The ceramic is glazed on the front and sides so is very smooth whilst retaining the texture of the imprinted design. The result is a pleasantly tactile item. This is a one-off listing, the earrings in the photographs are the actual pair you will receive. The ear wires are sterling silver. Each drop is about 13mm across, a little under half an inch. All my jewellery comes in a hand-stamped box. Matching items are available – if there’s nothing currently listed just ask! The last picture shows some other puffin items.
