About this item
Love Rainbows? Love unusual presents? Try a Glass Chain. This chain has seven square links, each of which is made of 4 pieces of coloured glass, each of which is 6 cm by 1 cm. Each link is a colour of the rainbow. Every one of the 28 pieces of glass that make up this chain is individually hand-cut before being carefully laid out in the kiln and fired to around 800 C, fusing the squares in place, but somehow leaving each link free from the others. We then add a 20cm stainless steel chain so you can hang this beauty from a shelf, in the window, or wherever catches your fancy. When hung up, it is approximately 28 cm long, plus the cord Each link is fully articulated and moves within its neighbours - it's magic. We'll pack this piece extremely carefully to make sure it arrives with you in good condition. All measurements are approximate.

A Fused Glass Chain? Really? I watched a tutorial on how to get this effect and was so taken by it that I had to have a go. Some trial and error (if you position the glass pieces too close to each other they WILL fuse together), I managed to get a result I liked. We have a couple of similar chains hanging in our conservatory - they look amazing in the light. When we've shown similar pieces at our craft fairs they have caused a lot of comments. SKU: 6181
