About this item
A hand carved bowl made from hedgerow wood. The wood came from fallen timber in local farmlands and of a species which is as yet undetermined! However it has a lovely distinct grain in rich nut brown. There is a small countryside design kolosed on the base. The bowl is 7 inches wide by 3 inches deep, it was carved with ax, adze and hook knives from the half trunk which gives the finished bowl a grand figuring of grain with contrasts between heart and sap woods. Once completed, it was treated to multiple coats of hot culinary grade flaxseed oil which allows for deep penetration of the wood. Then it was waxed with pure beeswax-no chemicals or solvents allowed! Over time it should darken to a deep brown. Like every utensil I make, this is for use. Salads, rice, porridge or even soups if you are a true wood diner. But of course it would make an equally jolly fruit bowl or the like.

Useful Information
You can cancel the order and get a refund from the maker within 14 days of receipt, provided the item has not been used. Faulty items can be returned within six months of payment being made.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
As with wooden spoons, it only needs rinsing, wiping and drying after use. Every now and then when dry, rub in a fresh coat of walnut or linseed oil to replenish the wood. If you intend it for dry use (fruit bowl or as a decorative piece) then it will take a beeswax polish and should come up bright.
