This collograph of Whitby Abbey on the North Yorkshire coast. It is a development from photographs taken earlier In the year. Sat on the headland it is very atmospheric. a Gothic Abbey that has inspired Gothic literature and Whitby hosts a Gothic event each year. It is dedicated to St Hiild or Hilda who was the abbess there. Jewellery made out of Whitby Jet can be found in Whitby though there is less of it around and a lot of the modern jet jewellery is made from jet that is sourced elsewhere in the world. As it is black on white the title sprang to mind. One of these was exhibited in Sheffield Printmaker's Off the Press exhibition.
