About this item
Peacock picture / panel made of pewter. This is a large bas relief panel made of English pewter. This item is made to order so please allow 5 to 10 days for me to make it for you. The picture shown is of a recent commission so please note that yours will vary slightly. My work is not stamped hammered or molded in any way, but hand tooled entirely from scratch which takes many hours of laborious hand work. The metal is worked from behind against a leather pad and then further refined by working from the front, the technique I use us called repoussework. I first came across this technique when visiting a house designed by Charles Rennie Macintosh, I saw a panel designed and executed by his wife, Margaret Macdonald. That was 20 years ago and I have been making pewter pictures abd mirrors ever since.
