I tried to represent an eye with this piece of inlay work, as the black African Ebony bowl immediately reminded me of an eye pupil especially with it's sheen.\nThe centre bowl is a hand turned African Ebony bowl 12cm in diameter.\nThen using a variety of wood veneers, including Madagascar and Indian rosewood,Walnut, Macassar Ebony, amongst a few others I made the inlay work then placed it around the bowl.There are approximately 450/500 pieces of very small intricate pieces of veneer formed in a circle to represent the eye in the top inlay work. A beautiful incorporation of all the different varieties of brown and natural colours.\nOn the reverse side I have use Zebrano wood veneer.\nThe completed size is 30cm in diameter and approx 4cm deep.\nThe marquetry and bowl are finished with a fine 400 grit sandpaper and 0000 steel wool to achieve a smooth fine high standard finish.
