I use no paint to delineate the pattern but work freehand embroidery onto self colour cloth to make the plumage both on the front and the back of the doll. He has a tiny embroidered tail with his wings also heavily embroidered. Sam is dressed in a pretty Acufactum cotton waistcoat called Bird Prince in a rich pattern of birds, keys and crowns. He is dressed in plus fours and a silk cravat of his ochre cotton shirt. he carries a little embroidery hoop that is also embroidered. He has a little brass ring to his back so he can hang. He has a piece of citrine to her heart with rosemary in his stuffing for a gentle fragrance.\r\n\r\nHe is, as are all my dolls, warm and companiable with a touch of English whimsy.
