Essentially, these are the two plates that would clamp a chap's trouser legs onto a wooden back plate as he slept in his mews flat. I've given the metal connectors a bit of a polish, rounded off the top prongs, which were a bit sharp, and screwed-and-glued eight individually hand carved sapele hooks to make an absolutely unique two-tier coat rack. If you can't make out from the picture, it's a Watts Eclipse, made in Sheffield, with an Austin Reed proprietary label on the lower tier.
