The chipcarved rim pattern is what would have been favoured in old times to liven up a (quite probably) drab world - it can have the same effect these days! The paint is food safe acrylic and the bowl itself was treated with a good basting of hot foodgrade linseed oil. The final finish is Penprysg beeswax and walnut oil conditioner.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n14 inches in length, 5 inches wide and about  inches deep at the shallow midpoint , it was carved with ax, adze and hook knives\r\n\r\nLike every utensil I make, this is for use. Salads, rice, porridge or veggies wouldwork. But of course, once again with my bowls, it would make an equally jolly fruit bowl or the like.
