The flower is fused to a streaky red coaster.\r\n\r\nIt is mounted on board and bordered with coloured \u0026 twisted cord. The piece is then mounted in a 20 x 20 cm box frame which is approximately 3.5 cm deep.\r\n\r\nThe first stage in making this piece is to prepare the coaster, which is a piece of streaky red  art glass capped by clear glass. This is heated to around 800C to fuse it together. We then hand-cut the 6 pieces of cream glass and 6 pieces of blue glass that make the flower, lay them out on the coaster and add a pre-fused glass dot to make the centre.
