The pearls are fairly small: 5-5.5 mm diameter. They have a slightly asymmetrical shape, and are often referred to as potato pearls. They have been dyed pretty pastel shades of green, peach, lavender, and cream.\r\n\r\nThe pearls have generally smooth surfaces with a few minor imperfections and a fairly good lustre. Instead of the traditional silk, I have strung them on high performance nylon, which is meant to be a little stronger and less inclined to stretch. I have knotted between each pearl, a classic technique that ensures a good drape and also security in the unlikely event that the thread does break.\r\n\r\nI have finished the necklace with sterling silver findings: a tiny bead, French wire (gimp) and a trigger clasp.\r\n\r\nThe necklace is 48.8cms (about 19 ins) long.
