Each of the petals was hand cut and then ground to a smooth finish.  The outer ring of petals was cut from marigold opaque art glass, and the inner ring from light amber transparent glass. The central disc of black was sprinkled with finely crushed glass to represent seeds.  The whole piece was then fused together at 745°C, a temperature which fuses the separate pieces together, but retains texture in the layers of petals. \r\nIt is completely individual - no two pieces will ever be the same as I will use slightly different shades of glass or vary the petal size and shape, just as real flowers are always unique.\r\nThe sunflower measures approximately 9cm max across and would make a lovely keepsake gift. It can be hung on a wall or  displayed against a window.
