The silver wire leaves ripples of silver along it's length as it melts and fuses to the copper, it reminded me of a comet or a shooting star so hence the name. The disc is slightly domed to catch the light and a patina is applied by lightly heating the piece after it was polished. Microcrystalline wax applied in a very thin coat preserves the surface.\r\nThe disc is 30cm across and hangs by a copper jump ring on an adjustable, natural leather thong.
