The fibres used for spinning are from the underfur, which is dark grey.  First, I comb the underfur out of her coat (she’s not very good at grooming herself!) Then I spin the fibres into a thin yarn - I use a small supported spindle, as the fibres are so short, and don’t spin easily on a spinning wheel.  After gently washing the tiny skein of yarn, I air-dry it, and then wind into a ball.  It’s then ready to be crocheted into the bookmark, or twisted into a tassel.\r\n\r\nThese bookmarks make a lovely unique gift for a cat-lover.  The ‘flower’ ends vary from a 5-petal flower, to 6-petal, to 12-petal flowers.
